Sherri Anne Talks About Afternoon Tea on WAMU All Things Considered
Sherri Anne was invited to be a guest on WAMU 88.5 All Things Considered to spill the tea on enjoying afternoon tea in Washington, DC.
What a treat and surprise to be asked by Tamika Smith to be on All Things Considered, Get Out There, to talk about the ritual of afternoon tea. What I love about tea with friends is three things:
1) It’s relaxation, meditation and therapy all in one.
2) It’s a celebration of the current season.
3) I also love the exploration of little bites.
It’s a time to sit with friends and just catch up, but quietly. Sitting at a bar it can be noisy and interruptive, but at tea, you can really take a moment to be still and reconnect.
Whether holiday season like we are in now, or Cherry Blossom season, or a toast to Fall it’s a way to celebrate the season we are in in a special way.
It’s fun to try all of the different scones, tarts, and tea sandwiches. And many places change up their selection based on the season. For example I was just at the new Salamander DC hotel and they had a Fall themed tea and there were heavier flavors like a Reuben sandwich, a falafel slider, an espresso martini Eton Mess, an apple almond cake, and a s'more scone.
